Experience

Teaching German as a second language is my main objective. I aim to eventually teach German at the college level, as I will soon be starting a master program in Teaching German as a Foreign Language. I have extensive experience as a second language learner, as well as teaching/tutoring German at the university, middle and high school levels. My progress, which has taken me from a beginning-German-student into the perspectives of teaching, demonstrates dedication, knowledge, and passion for language learning and German culture. In addition to two and a half years of teaching/tutoring experience, I have also attended teaching workshops at Eastern Michigan University, spent a semester abroad, as well as three additional months volunteering and traveling in Germany. Being a language learner myself, I can empathize with how frustrating stages of second language acquisition can be. To maintain students' interests and meet learning needs for all learning types, I provide a variety of exercises to enhance students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. I enjoy getting to know and having fun with my students. Providing a comfortable learning atmosphere for my students allows me to seek ways to pair their personal interests with academic achievement.

Hobbies

I enjoy traveling, trying new food, and participating in volunteer work. I recently participated in the WWOOF program (Worldwide Opportunities in Farms), where I volunteered to help on an alpaca farm in southern Germany. I love animals! I take up any opportunity I get, when it comes to traveling away from home, experiencing other cultures and getting a to see how other people around the world live.
