Education

PhD in music theory (2003) from the University of British Columbia. MA in music history (1995) from the University of Victoria. BMus in music history (1984) from the University of Victoria.

Experience

I've had eight years of preparing students for the AP examination in Music Theory. Very high pass results with an average of 4.35 overall. 80% of all my previous students have scored a 5 (the highest mark). I believe my preparatory course for the AP music theory exam helps to broaden and enrich a student's understanding about music. There are new musicianship skills to master that are challenging and helpful (dictations and sight singing). My course also makes use of the music theory that students have taken already and provides in-depth reasons how music works.
