Education

I have an MA in political science from Simon Fraser University. I finished my post-graduate work with a 4.0 GPA – an improvement over the 3.94 GPA I had when I finished my BA. Currently working on getting my Provincial Instructor Diploma. This program teaches people how to teach (something TAs don't necessarily get to spend a lot of time learning). I'm developing better methods to help students master advanced reading, writing and researching skills. These are things I'm already pretty good at, and now I'm perfecting my methods of teaching them. My success has a great deal to do with my writing abilities. To do well on exams and papers, you need get the relevant information into your head, and then back out in whatever format is being demanded. So first I help you get the knowledge, but then I help you develop the skills to really shine in whatever writing format is being demanded of you.

Experience

I have a year and a half of experience. I know how to break down complex ideas and projects into manageable chunks. Together, we’ll make sure you understand the material, but also that you develop the skills to make the most of that knowledge. Knowing the stuff is only half the battle. You have to be able to communicate it in a way that satisfies the course requirements. In addition to helping you produce effective and powerful writing, I also focus on strengthening your project planning and critical thinking skills. These are essential to university survival! And developing these skills won’t just up your GPA – they’ll help you in whatever you do after you graduate.
