EducationWhat do I believe in?
Every student is able to understand mathematics if it is presented the right way and if he/she spends enough time practicing.
1. Fundamentals are important.
2. Mastering math requires a lot of practice
3. Math is a rigorous intellectual framework. It is essential in engineering, science and business. There is a reason why SAT tests include math and why virtually every school on the planet offers math courses.
Why do I teach?
Because I enjoy it, because I am good at it and because I believe it is important.
How do I teach?
Lessons take place via Skype. At a scheduled time the student and I log in and connect. We discuss the homework any upcoming tests, anything that is relevant and then I share the view of my screen with the student and we begin. Throughout the lesson I use:
- The graphics tablet for ease of writing on the screen
- Wolfram Demonstrations - interactive applications that allow to better illustrate the topic
- Graphing software
- Mathematics books in pdf
- Past paper questions
I use this large amount of applications and technology in order to make the lessons most seamless, effective and interactive. They allow the student to better understand and practice new concepts.
When the new concept is explained and we have solved a few examples together, we disconnect so that the student can practice the set problems alone. I am still available for any questions and I later check the answers before proceeding. We can go through as many or as few examples, questions and topics as necessary. The homework is set after every class and due at least a few hours before the next.
One hour of tutoring costs 40 CAD paid via PayPal after the lesson.
I graduated from UWC SEA in Singapore scoring 43 points on the IB Diploma and extra 6 points for Further Mathematics.
After that, I studied Robotics and Automatics at Wroclaw University of Technology in Poland and have been a student of Computer Engineering within the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program at Lehigh University in the US. Current GPA: 4.0/4.0.
I have been a private tutor for over 5 years teaching all levels of mathematics, high school physics and chemistry, as well as English. Since then I have been involved with Bright Trainers (more at www.brighttrainers.com) where we prepare some great math and MS Excel training for students and professionals from across the globe.
My IB scores:
HL Mathematics - 7/7
HL Physics - 7/7
HL Chemistry - 7/7
Further Mathematics - 6/7
A2 English - 7/7
SAT II Scores:
Physics - 800/800
Chemistry - 800/800
Mathematics - 790/800
Current GPA: 4.0/4.0
HobbiesSports have always played a huge role in my life, and so I have been a member of the Lehigh Rowing Crew. I also play volleyball and basketball, have a lifeguard license, I enjoy windsurfing and sailing, rifle shooting, and used to play professional chess for over 6 years.
Aside from that I love traveling, I have lived on 3 different continents and have been to about 20 different countries.
Intellectual growth is important to me, so I train myself in programming, I'm getting a degree in finance and computer engineering and my Kindle holds a ton of books and periodicals such as Harvard Business Review and MIT Technology Review.
