Education
BA in Philosophy (intensive option) from University of Pittsburgh, Magna Cum Laude (3.7 GPA), with special honors from the department. The intensive option involves taking significantly more credit, since the regular philosophy major is rather scant in that regard. The motivation for this, as I understand it, is the general pull away from humanities in order to push towards the sciences; if the philosophy major is not very demanding, then it is more likely for students to complete a dual or joint-major, one of whose components is philosophy. I opted for the philosophy degree, tout court, so I chose to work more - including taking a few courses for graduate students.
Experience
Given my exhibited aptitude in logic, I was permitted to lead 3 introductory logic recitation sections at Pitt in my final semester. This involved weekly preparation of material (such as lessons and quizzes), grading, and - of course - teaching 3 groups of college students for 50 minutes each week, in addition to holding 2 office hours each week. I want to be a tutor because I find ideas exciting, and I think students learn the most when their teachers are excited about learning. Aside from excelling in the philosophy program at Pitt, I was among a select group of students to receive a Brackenridge Fellowship in the summer of 2015. I took 5 classes in French, math classes up to calculus, never earning less than an A-, and I continue to read in French and maintain an interest in mathematics. Finally, while I was in school I worked for a few years with a young man with special needs to aid him in becoming independent.

Hobbies
When I am by myself, I love to read, write, think about how to solve puzzles (mostly philosophical ones!) and learn to program computers. When I am with my wife and/or my friends, I love to play soccer, ride my bicycle, walk around parts of the city, try new restaurants, watch movies (preferably not blockbusters), and meet interesting new people!
